I took this photograph on a rare day when I told myself I was not going to take any photographs. It was supposed to be my day to observe and just take things in without a camera. I was walking on the beach in California and saw her lying there alone but not lonely. I saw this angle in my mind before the lens and ended up taking one of my favorite photographs of the year
