Coney Island was my first series of Polaroids. I remember standing in a hot empty parking lot during the week and taking this image. Initially I wanted to capture it “perfectly” without any peeling in the image. I then realized with this image and all of my further work that the peeling is the perfection. This photograph really captures the beauty grittiness of Coney Island.
