Awesome song from one of my favorite singer/songwriters. So honest and simple that it’s genius. A little sad for this sunny day, though hopeful.

Pura Vida in Costa Rica

written by matt and posted in Journal, Life

I am home from an amazing trip to Costa Rica. Surfing, books, yoga, dusty roads, hammocks and incredible food (more on that in an upcoming post). Exactly what I needed. Took a ton of new polaroids and some pics with film. It was nice to chill out from life in Brooklyn. I stayed at Horizon, a hotel and yoga center, in a town called Santa Teresa, Mal Pais. There was a fun beach break and it was a really laid back.

This was the first trip that I brought a skateboard with me and the town ended up only having dirt roads. Ha Ha. Although, I did get to ride through the airport at 5am.

To get to/from Mal Pais, I took a plane that sat 12 people, though there was only 3 passengers, the pilot and co-pilot. Such a beautiful flight over bright blue water, clouds and tin roof tops.

Before leaving, I stood in the sun without movement so my skin could memorize this feeling of beauty peace.

I didn”t cry today and I was tested 100x. I now fly away on a solo trip to a surreal Costa Rica. Much deserved and needed.

It’s 12:30am and I am leaving for Costa Rica in 3 hours and 45 minutes. Such crazy stress just trying to get ready for this trip. Nonstop printing. I have packed 7 books, my iPod, a Gameboy and 2 cameras for 9 days. I am planning on going from today until next Friday, though may need a few more days. The last few months have been intense. Need the ocean and sunlight.

My highs come with lows.

I need to walk around with new eyes and remember that I am an artist. Need to be thankful. Need to stay in the moment. Need to redefine my definition of success.

I plan on starting a “secret” new series of images while there. I’m sure I will take a lot of Polaroids of surfing, though I am ready to make new art.

The Go! Team - Ms Pac-Man video

This video just found its way back into my life. It makes me so happy, as I am obsessed with ms pac-man and dig the song. It’s hard to be sad watching ms-pac man and the evil ghost monsters running around.

El Guincho - Bombay

This video is really amazing. I watched it yesterday before a shoot and was inspired to take my work to the next level or maybe sideways. Makes me really happy. I don”t care what they are saying.

One of my favorite bands. Every song is gorgeous on every album.
I sometimes play one album on repeat and later realize I only listened to that one album all day. I just said the word album 3x.

she hit pause studios has been photographing his whimsical images of girls, surfing, beach scenes, coney island + vintage finds for the past 8 years.
